TUYERÍA BARROCA, for flute and piano

Tuyeria Barroca représente une vision personnelle du genre musical de golpe ou joropo des Vallées du Tuy (golpe tuyero), au nord du Venezuela.  Il s’agit d’une forme musicale typique caractérisée par une virtuosité et un contrepoint d’une grande complexité, interprétée par une harpe à cordes de métal, une paire de maracas et la voix chantée.  Précisément, ce caractère polyphonique complexe ainsi que le type de lignes mélodiques pourraient évoquer ce qu’il se passe dans le répertoire baroque européen (XVIIe et XVIIIe siècles). En ce sens, Tuyeria Barroca symbolise une fusion entre les deux langages en jeu, le golpe tuyero et la musique baroque, accompagnée d’une touche personnelle et moderne.
Cette pièce a été composée à Montréal en 2004, et a été jouée à plusieurs reprises au Canada, aux États-Unis, au Venezuela et en Équateur, et enregistrée dans l'album "Albricias del Sur", 2025 (Lorel Rodríguez, flute, and Rissa Salinas, piano)
 
 
Tuyeria Barroca represents a personal vision of the musical genre of golpe or joropo which ofiginates from the Valleys of Tuy (golpe tuyero), in the North of Venezuela.  This genre is a typical musical form characterized by complex virtuosity and counterpoint, performed by a metal-strings harp, a pair of maracas and voice. The complex polyphonic character and melodic lines have similarities to European baroque repertory of the 17th and 18th centuries.  Essentially, Tuyeria Barroca symbolizes a fusion between both languages, the golpe tuyero and the baroque music with an additional personal and modern touch.
Composed in Montreal in 2004, it has been performed several times in Canada, USA, Venezuela and Ecuador, and recorded in the album "Albricias del Sur", 2025 (Lorel Rodríguez, flute, and Rissa Salinas, piano).
