COMPOSER (M. Mus.) and ARRANGER

René Orea’s musical language draws upon the complexity of contemporary compositional techniques while utilizing material from Latin American oral and folk musical traditions. The rhythmic impulses of his roots—often lying just beneath the surface—combined with a distinctive approach to timbre and texture, create a musical world that is by turns vibrant, dynamic, and visceral, and at other times atmospheric, meditative, and spiritual.
